Breakthrough Ideas and the Innovators who Bring them to Life

Breakthrough is one of those words in the English language that manages to essentially say what it means, implying the breaking through of some obstacle or barrier. Less simple is to achieve meaningful breakthrough when it comes to the world’s most pressing questions. At the Imagine Solutions Conference, a celebration of big ideas and the thought leaders who turn them into action, breakthrough is a common theme throughout the day’s agenda. This, the Imagine Solutions Conference’s 10th annual event, held on February 24, 2020, will feature 20 leading experts, innovators, and doers.

Breakthrough has been a key denominator for Regina Dugan, a 2020 Imagine Solutions featured speaker, throughout her career. Dugan was the first woman to lead the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), whose mission is “creating breakthrough technologies and capabilities for national security.” The Agency lists as their recent news items, “Drinking Water, On Demand from Air” and “Decoding Biological Circuitry.” Following her government tenure, Dugan subsequently spearheaded state-of-the-art research at Google and then Facebook. A PhD-level engineer, Dugan has earned widespread respect for her accomplishments in sectors generally dominated by men. In all respects, Dugan is acquainted with the significance of breaking through.

As if gravity were enough of a force to inhibit breakthrough, Gravity Industries, founded by Richard Browner, is pioneering “the next frontier in human flight,” creating a functional jet suit, a live demonstration of which will be a highlight of the Imagine Solutions Conference on February 24. Founded only in 2017, Gravity Industries has quickly earned global acclaim for its cutting-edge technology. Add unparalleled human flight to the list of see-it-to-believe-it ideas and experiences facilitated by Imagine Solutions.

Closer to ground-level but no less stunning in scope of attainment is the work being done by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Yung S. Lie, PhD is the President and CEO of the Foundation, and is sure to wow the Imagine Solutions audience with her presentation. Since its founding in 1946, 12 scientists from the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, which rightly self-describes its discoveries as breakthrough, have received the Nobel Prize. The Foundation’s mission collectively prioritizes scientific innovation to advance the understanding of cancer, new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and the unmatched achievements of its researchers. It is entirely conceivable that someone you know has benefited from work done at Damon Runyon, with immeasurable new knowledge yet to accrue.

These are a sampling of some of the breakthroughs the 2020 Imagine Solutions Conference audience will be privy to. Will you be in attendance? Don’t miss your chance to register today.
