Searching for solutions… problem-solving seminar has exciting possibilities

March 21, 2009

This could be the start of something big.

A cadre of dreamers and doers accustomed to success look at progressive, issue-driven, problem-solving seminars held in select locales around the country and wonder why not Naples?

They are coming forward with ambitious, smartly formulated plans to hold the first Searching For Solutions Institute seminar about this time next year.

The Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts is so impressed that it has offered the venue for two days in peak season.

Leading thinkers, speakers and researchers — not politicians — will be invited to lead seminars/discussions. Local residents and others will be invited to subscribe to attend. For more information, call (239) 564-2240 or go online to

Participants will be encouraged to keep in touch to keep the conversations going.

Institute leaders say complex, global matters need a problem-solving approach to match, and they are up to the challenge.

We see this as good for everyone. The event can redefine us and uplift our self-image, putting our area on the map for reasons other than sunshine and golf. The thought of leaders in the fields of finance and science, for example, coming here to collaborate is in sync with Project Innovation, which seeks to diversify our economy and job opportunities.

We look forward to hearing more about Searching For Solutions finances, and scholarships for students to attend and take part. We are eager to hear more about background information and seminar speeches being posted online so the public can take part too.

The Searching For Solutions movement is ambitious and exciting — even more so because it is coming together right here, right now.

Best of luck to all who are working to make it happen to make the world a better place.
