Debi Brooks is co-founder of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. She spearheads principal gifts fundraising and advises on strategies and program direction. Brooks served as the foundation president and chief executive officer from October 2000 to February 2007, during which time the Foundation funded over $90 million in research either directly or through partnerships and became the single largest funder of Parkinson’s disease research outside the U.S. government.
Brooks spent nine years at Goldman Sachs & Co. as vice president in the fixed income and asset management divisions before applying her strategic background in business to the nonprofit sector. She has led several not-for-profit organizations through start-up and turnaround efforts. Brooks serves on many advisory boards, including the Faster Cures Philanthropy
Advisory Service and the board of the directors of the Parkinson's Institute.
